Ximending Shopping Walk, Taipei

Ximending Shopping Walk (Self Guided), Taipei

The Ximending area of Taipei is a paradise for shoppers. It is busy at all times but it’s even livelier at weekends when locals flock to this popular neighborhood to rub shoulders with the tourists and watch the street artists entertaining the crowds. This area boasts hundreds of stores including hair salons and tattoo parlors, toy shops and traditional clothing boutiques, as well as department stores and shopping malls. You will find numerous stores selling inexpensive beauty products and make-up imported from Korea; Chinese and Japanese fashion is popular in this district and you will find some great stores selling imported clothes at affordable prices.

Fancy a good meal served in an unusual way? Check out some of Ximending’s more outlandish restaurants such as Modern Toilet Restaurant on Xining South Road. There are plenty of other eating places where the crockery is more traditional from street cafes to top-notch restaurants. Why not join in with the locals in a spot of Karaoke? This form of entertainment is very popular and in Ximending you’ll find plenty of places offering Karaoke facilities. Don’t worry if you can’t sing – not many of the regular visitors can either, but you will have great fun and make new friends.
