University of British Columbia Walk (Self Guided), Vancouver
Point Grey is one of the nicest areas of Vancouver and offers plenty of interesting things to see and do. The Vancouver campus of the University of British Columbia is situated here, so the neighborhood is pretty lively, as you can imagine. The campus is really beautiful with its views over the North Shore Mountains. It is also home to several excellent museums, such as the Museum of Anthropology which exhibits a marvelous collection of First Nations items.
The campus gardens are lovely and include a mysterious Japanese garden with its shadow bridges, an alpine garden and a huge botanical garden; there is even a large vegetable garden and the food grown here is served in the campus canteen. All this will make you wish you could enroll here!
You can also visit the arts center which features a concert hall, a theater and a cinema. Point Grey is an interesting mix of venerable edifices and modern learning buildings. Point Grey “village” has interesting shops and lots of bars and cafes where students gather to unwind after a hard day hitting the books – it’s a bustling, friendly place. There are also several beaches to explore – the best known is Wreck Beach, where you can slip into your swimming gear or just go without – it’s an optional clothing beach.
