Miraflores Walk (Self Guided), Lima
The upmarket Miraflores neighborhood is an achingly beautiful and picturesque part of Lima with leafy and well maintained parks, ocean views and beaches. As well as the glorious natural attractions, there are superb shops and restaurants and a dynamic nightlife.
Get away from the urban bustle with a stroll through a flower-filled park. Follow loved up couples to the cliff top Parque del Amor where there is a long curving bench decorated with mosaics and romantic quotes. Stand by the sculpture at the heart of the park which depicts a couple locked in a romantic embrace.
Another popular cliff top green space is Parque Raimondi, which has terrific views of the Pacific Ocean and encompasses manmade hills, lawns, trees and flowers. Unwind on the expansive stretches of fine, golden sand and smooth pebbles at the foot of the district and then go for a swim or join the surfers riding the waves.
Meander along the sea walk to find Larcomar, a multilevel food, shopping and entertainment complex. Shop in the high-end clothing and jewelry stores, go bowling and then catch a movie in the cinema. Don’t leave without treating yourself to an al fresco meal on a terrace of one of the restaurants and revel in the sea views.
